About The Longboat

Welcome Aboard 'The Longboat' F 111.
An Adams Design Offshore Racing & Cruising Boat.

Length; 13.5m (44.5ft)
Beam; 3.1m (10.2ft)
Draft; 2.1m (7.0ft)

Crew; 6 to 12, but 8 is good!

Designed by Joe Adams in 1977
Constructed by Seahorse Marine NSW in 1998, using the latest Space Age technology; GRP on Divinycell foam core.
Finished off and first launched in Fremantle, Western Australia in August 1998.

This is what the designer says;
The Adams 13 Metre was designed to prove that a cruising boat can have the same dynamic performance of a modern day ocean racer, yet also be dry and comfortable to sail. The key to the Adams 13 Metre design is that the displacement of a conventional 36 footer is drawn out into a longer, narrower and lighter boat. The result is a boat that is not only fairly inexpensive to build but also comfortable below, despite her 3.1metre beam and shallow hull form.
For the whole blurb visit the > Adams Yacht Design web page.

Since we took possession of the boat in July 2002, for the two first two seasons the boat contested every Offshore [and many other] races on the West Australian coast, winning or being placed second or third in over half of all the races and race series in that period, on both IRC Rating and on YAH Handicaps. Not too bad for a boat designed nearly 30 years ago!
